a fim project by Heine Avdal & Yukiko Shinozaki / fieldworks

Commissioned by 'Multiplie festival - DansiT Trondheim' yet still we rise is a dance film Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki made early 2019 in collaboration with two of Trondheim's local dance companies; 'Danselaboratoriet' and 'Dansetateret 55+'. They are both committed projects at the Cultural Unit in Trondheim Municipality.
Both groups have been around for around 15 years and focus on improvisation, choreography and experimental meetings between different people through dance. With this as a starting point, and based on the participants “lived lives” yet still we rise is a unique video portrait of these two groups.

yet still we rise portrays 'Danselaboratoriet' and 'Dansetateret 55+' performing task-oriented improvisations in different situations and places with a relation to their daily life.
Each individual and the group as a whole were invited to explore the boundaries between abstract and concrete movement patterns.
What types of movements belong to certain spaces?
Where are the boundaries of being on the inside or outside of a space, a movement, or a state of mind?
When do we belong to a place?
What is it that binds us to places?
When does an area, or a room, become a place where we find affinity?
