Cast off Skin is the first choreography by Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki, a duet danced by them with original music by Bart Aga. Cast off Skin explores movements that are recognizable in daily life. It questions how and when concrete actions transform into unknown or undefined movements. Cast off Skin aims to move through the often-ambiguous boundaries between being abstract/concrete, recognizable/unrecognisable, accepting/rejecting, and hiding/revealing. Through confronting these borders a heightened awareness of our body and its motions takes place. When do we hide from ourselves and how do we reveal ourselves to others? Are we always caught in between these moments?

Thought and mind being absent from the body, whereas simultaneously present through a motion of the hand. Can we be present and absent at the same time, or can we shift from the inside out and outside in? The feeling of controlling and being controlled by ourselves. Is the mind controlling the movement of the hand or is the motion of the hand controlling the mind?
